Functions of the Department:
- Operate and manage international and local aerodromes according
to applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure the daily management of aerodrome operations, including supervision
and control of aircraft movement, passenger, cargo and mail transportation to
and from the airport, providing all technical, navigational and other related
and supplementary service aids through vital facilities and installations
existing in the aerodrome.
- Ensure regular operation of aerodrome facilities according to the
approved schedule, on a daily non-stop twenty-four-hour basis all days of the
week.
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of an airport safety
management system in line with aerodrome certificating requirements; supervise
the level of services provided by government bodies working in the aerodrome
and ground service providers and ensure that they apply safety standards
according to applicable laws and regulations.
- Undertake all engineering and construction works of all aerodrome
facilities under its jurisdiction; maintain all aerodrome grounds and ensure
that the take-off and landing runways, aircraft tracks, aircraft parking lots
and public airport spaces are free from foreign objects.
- Maintain and repair all aerodrome buildings, facilities, runways and
taxiways according to globally accepted standards, and ensure that buildings
and facilities of other administrative units located within the aerodrome
grounds are appropriately maintained and safe for use according to safety standards.
- Attract investments to benefit aerodromes and develop airport locations
unrelated to air navigation for commercial, industrial and other uses
compatible with aerodrome navigational uses and the approved land use plan.
- Adopt the procedures for the issuance of airport entry
passes, in coordination with aerodrome security authorities.
- Develop aerodrome emergency plan and procedures document according to
applicable regulations.
- Propose draft aerodrome operation and maintenance agreements, monitor
actions taken to conclude and implement them, evaluate their results and
prepare and submit regular reports to the President.
- Identify any problem or obstacle that may restrain effective
implementation of aerodrome operation and maintenance agreements and propose
suitable solutions to overcome them.
- Study and analyze technical reports regarding aerodrome operation and
maintenance; propose recommendations as may be required and submit them to the
President.
- Participate in meetings, conferences, and the committees of safety,
security and aerodromes facilities related to aerodromes affairs.
- Propose landing and parking fees for aircraft.
