Doha, QATAR –
Qatar Duty Free
today elevated a
lucky person into
the millionaire
league, when Qatar
Airways Area
Manager-Qatar, Ehab
Abdel Fattah Amin,
drew the winning
money-spinning
ticket. The raffle
draw for the QAR1
million,
(US$280,000) cash
prize was held at a
special ceremony in
its large premises
at Doha
International
Airport.
It was the third
successful
millionaire draw
organised by Qatar
Duty Free, which
sold some 3,000
tickets for QR450
(US$125) each since
the last draw in
July 2004.

Kumari, were joined
by airport officials
and media for the
raffle draw
ceremony.
“Qatar Duty Free
is delighted to have
given one lucky
person the chance to
become an instant
millionaire,” said
Qatar Airways Chief
Executive Officer
Akbar Al Baker.
“This is our
third millionaire
raffle draw, marking
the largest cash
draw that has been
held in Qatar.
“We strive to

and a great shopping
experience for our
valued customers at
Qatar Duty Free. The
fact that we could
offer such a large
and exciting cash
promotion reflects
this determination,”
added Al Baker.
Qatar Duty Free,
a subsidiary of
Qatar Airways has
been experiencing
continued and
significant growth.
It enjoyed 62 per
cent growth in
turnover last year
over the 2003 levels
and has ramped up
its presence in the
departures and
arrivals area at
Doha International
Airport.
More than $1m has
been invested by
Qatar Duty Free in
refurbishing the
existing shopping
facilities in the
departures area,
which was completed
late last year.
The new-look
Qatar Duty Free
sells a huge range
of items, offering
passengers a wider
choice of products
at the best prices
and a thoroughly
enjoyable shopping
experience.
Qatar Duty Free
stocks more than
22,000 product lines
ranging from
perfumes, cosmetics,
beverages and food
to toys, jewellery
and watches
featuring leading
international brand
names such as
Bulgari, Rolex and
Chopard.
For the first
time, the company is
stocking a men’s
clothing range
courtesy of Hugo
Boss to create a
dedicated fashion
area.
Last year the
airport saw the
second phase of its
expansion project
take off with a
refurbished arrivals
area. Improvements
at the airport are
aimed at increasing
passenger capacity
from 3.5m to 6m
passengers a year.
Work has already
begun on the new
$5.5bn Doha
International
Airport, a
state-of-the-art
facility that will
be built on
reclaimed land and
opened in phases
beginning in 2009.
Initial capacity
will be 12 million,
increasing four-fold
to around 50 million
by the time the
airport is fully
operational in 2015.
The new airport
will have a larger
duty free shopping
area that will
compete at the
highest level with
many of its rivals
around the world.
Qatar Airways is
one of the fastest
growing airlines in

a fleet of 40
all-Airbus aircraft
to 59 destinations
worldwide. The
airline plans to
serve 70 cities by
the end of 2005.
