Air Safety Department Scope of Company:

  • Setting up the technical and operational safety standards requirements to all aircraft registered in the state, this includes Airworthiness, Operations and maintenance.
  • Setting up of internal policy and regulations for the airworthiness, maintenance of aircraft and personnel licensing in accordance with to applicable rules and ICAO standards and recommended practices of annexe(6,7 and 8) of the Chicago convention, and the applicable national regulations.
  • Setup the state civil aircraft registry and supervise its entries in accordance with ICAO Annex 7 of the Chicago Convention and other applicable national regulations.
  • Aircraft Inspection for the issuance of certificates of airworthiness to aircraft registered in the state and its equipment in accordance with ICAO Annex 8 of the Chicago convention and applicable national regulations.
  • Issuing of required certificates e.g. approval, acceptances and exemption, and conducting aircraft operations and maintenance inspections in accordance with ICAO Annexes 1 and 6 of the Chicago convention and the applicable national regulations.
  • Issuing personnel licenses to individuals involved in aircraft operations and maintenance in accordance with ICAO Annex 1 to the Chicago convention, and the applicable national regulations.
  • To supervise and administrate the process of issuing licenses to person who are required to obtain a license to conduct their job e.g. Pilots, navigators, flight operation officers and flight engineers, aeronautical station operators, ground operations personnel and similar professions, Air traffic Controllers, fire officers at the airport, aeronautical electronic engineers and technicians, maintenance teams, etc.
  • To supervise and participate in the aircraft accident investigations committees, search and rescue committees, and keep the related files and records.
  • Defining and setting the licensing and training requirements for persons involved in aircraft operations and maintenance in accordance with national and international regulations.
  • Defining the annual training requirements for the department.
  • To supervise the State civil airports, conduct inspections and certify their suitability for air navigation, also ensure in general terms that all persons employed and service providers in these airports are technically qualified up to the standard required.
  • Approving of national and foreign firms engaged in the maintenance of all aircraft registered in the State, and the approving of national and foreign aviation training organizations.
  • To propose fees and charges for the aviation personnel license issuance.
  • To issue height clearance permit to companies requesting construction authorisation in the vicinities of aerodromes and within the entire territory of Qatar in order to safeguard aeronautical activities.
